Community Day/Pancake Breakfast!

10/20/2011
Last Sunday, October 16th, was quite a day at LMS...

The Upper Elementary held its annual Pancake Breakfast to raise funds towards its BIG Trip, this year to NYC. While UE parents flipped pancakes on the grill and cooked up sausage, UE students took orders and delivered breakfast to the diners. AS always, a contingent of alumni returned for the morning to feast and catch up.

At the same time Community Day was bustling outside. This year's theme was Harvest Carnival - Ring toss (onto pumpkins), gourd bowling, sack races, pumpkin decorating, face painting, hay rides and more. Middle Schoolers helped to run the activities.

And - at the same time - a winter clothing drive was taking place for Cradles to Crayons as part of an overall Lexington community collection. And... the middle schoolers who will be paricipating in the Montessori Model UN were selling energy efficient light bulbs in support of their trip.

Back inside, students, parents, alumni families, and facutly & staff were writing messages of thanks to Biff Maier in celebration of his 25 years at LMS, first as the founding teacher of the Upper Elementary and most recently as Director of Faculty and Curriculum Development. If you haven't had a chance to send him your message, there are "leaves" and markers in the elementary lobby.
