The Application Process
The admission process is an exchange of information – we show and teach you about LMS; you show and teach us about your child and you. If it looks like a good match, we offer your child a place; you then decide whether or not to enroll. Here are the steps in that process:
Inquiry: Call us or complete the online inquiry. We will send you admission materials, including our viewbook and an application.
Tour & Observation: Please call to arrange for a tour of the school and observation in a classroom. During the school year, tours & observations are scheduled for 9:15 and 10:30, Monday - Friday. Your guide will be a current LMS parent or member of the admission staff. The tour allows you to see the whole school and ask questions about who we are; the 20-minute classroom observation allows you to experience the difference between a Montessori classroom and classrooms at other schools. Please allow 45 minutes - 1 hour for your campus visit. If you are touring during the summer, tours can be conducted anytime from 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Classes are not in session during the summer.
Application: Send completed written application and fee to LMS. Send appropriate AISNE form, with signed parent release, to your child's current teacher; s/he will send the completed form directly to LMS. For Elementary and Middle School applicants, we require the previous 2 year's school records/report cards plus the current school report card.
Parent Interview: When we receive your application, we will call you to schedule an interview with one of our admission staff. During this interview, you and LMS staff continue to exchange information about your child and about LMS.
Child Visit: LMS has pre-scheduled times for applicants to visit one-on-one with a teacher for an assessment. Children applying for grades 3-6 also visit a classroom for an additional half day while school is in session. Middle School applicants visit for a full day, which includes an academic assessment with a teacher during the visit. Please call the Admission Office to schedule your child’s visit(s). The current schedule of child visits is listed on Admission Events.
Financial Aid: Families applying for financial aid submit the SSS (School and Student Service for Financial Aid) application, which is available online and from LMS. For more information, please see Tuition and Financial Aid. SSS customer service number: (800) 344-8328.
