Following the journey they started at Toddlers, Children’s House students in full time classrooms have daily interactions in Spanish with one of their teachers.
One of the teachers in these classrooms team speaks to the children in Spanish during the classroom activities and routines. The repetition in Spanish of sentences and directions that happen organically in daily routines allows the children to predict meaning and develop an intuitive understanding of what is being said in a different language.
Additionally, children have Spanish lessons at circle. Children enjoy stories, songs, and games from Spanish-speaking countries. Some of these Spanish activities are practiced during the week to reinforce Spanish vocabulary and to boost the children’s confidence.
