Where can a student practice swimming, complete the Hundred Board and build a fort all in the same day? Lexington Montessori School is proud to serve as an affiliate of HORIZONS National, a 27-year-old organization striving to build brighter futures for all children.

The HORIZONS@LMS Program strives to strike an appropriate balance between academic learning and meaningful recreational activities, which have been further enhanced by the host school’s 19 acres of land for outdoor exploration. We are extremely proud that participating students are exposed to Montessori philosophy and feel confident that this unique summer experience shapes students' development and enhances the learning process that takes place at their respective home schools during the academic year.

At the heart of the HORIZONS program is a commitment to leveling the playing field for children facing economic challenges. Our Montessori approach delivers lessons in subjects like reading, math, and science, reaching each child at their individual level. Beyond academics, the program fosters important life skills, such as teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving, through hands-on experiences and interactive projects.

The HORIZONS program creates a supportive and nurturing environment where students can build self-confidence and a love for learning. By providing access to cultural and recreational opportunities, that help broaden their horizons and instills a sense of possibility for the future.

In essence, the HORIZONS program embodies the belief that every child, regardless of their economic circumstances, deserves a chance to reach their full potential. It's a beacon of hope and empowerment, breaking the cycle of disadvantage and opening doors to a brighter future for the young participants.
