About Horizons Program
At the heart of the HORIZONS program is a commitment to leveling the playing field for children facing economic challenges. Our Montessori approach delivers lessons in subjects like reading, math, and science, reaching each child at their individual level. Beyond academics, the program fosters important life skills, such as teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving, through hands-on experiences and interactive projects. The HORIZONS@LMS Program strives to strike an appropriate balance between academic learning and meaningful recreational activities, which are further enhanced by LMS' 19 acres of land for outdoor exploration.
In essence, the HORIZONS program embodies the belief that every child, regardless of their economic circumstances, deserves a chance to reach their full potential. It's a beacon of hope and empowerment, breaking the cycle of disadvantage and opening doors to a brighter future for our participating students.
Horizons@LMS...
This past summer, Horizons@LMS welcomed 82 students from Waltham and surrounding communities for six weeks of joyful learning, exploration, and growth. Each summer, our classrooms and playgrounds fill with laughter, curiosity, and determination as students discover new skills, build confidence, and form lasting friendships.
As we look ahead, 2026 will mark our 12th summer of supporting students through Horizons@LMS. Year after year, we see how consistent opportunities, caring relationships, and a strong sense of belonging can transform a child’s view of themselves and their future.
None of this would be possible without the steady support of the LMS community and our extended network of friends and partners. Your generosity continues to open doors, for our students, for their families, and for the brighter futures they are building.
