LE Fall Art Update

LMS Art

To start the year, the Lower Elementary students diligently worked on their folders, which will hold their art pieces for the school year. In welcome of the Fall season, the students created Natural Leaf Monoprints. The lesson progressed to Fingerpainting Monoprints. The objective was to explore color-mixing with the Primary Colors and incorporate white and black. The process engages the tactile sense by finger painting, experimenting with texture tools, and using natural leaves. The indirect aim of the lesson emphasizes "crossing over", mixing one color from one side of the paper to the other side. This indicates "reading readiness" and left-brain-right-brain integration. The students can also appreciate the use of natural materials in art. They collaborate in assisting each other, practice Practical Life, and Grace and Courtesy routines through washing and drying their hands, tables, aprons, and art materials.
