What an exciting continuation of our Kindergarten farming term! Since our last update, we’ve been busy caring for our saffron crocus bulbs by adding compost, watering regularly, and giving them plenty of loving attention. Our efforts are paying off, as most of the bulbs have now sprouted beautiful tufts of long green leaves. The protective cages we placed around them have also been hard at work, keeping most of the curious rabbits from nibbling on these tender shoots.
In addition to tending our saffron crocuses, we’ve been supporting the health of our broader school gardens and grounds. Students have helped plant new wildflower seeds, dig holes for spring bulbs, and harvest the final fruits of the fall season.
We’ve also enjoyed tasting a variety of fall garden flavors, including green bell peppers, pink celery, scarlet kale, and bok choy. Stay tuned for our final update in December!
